Heck yes- we do internal brand work where I work (Hoot Design Company), and when companies aka founders/owners take time to know who they are and what they do and why they are doing it- everything else falls into place. It so funny how it's NOT something I've actively thought about much...but 100% a huge part of what makes brands like Chick-fil-A for example I think extremely successful. You have to have authenticity behind your brand image. It HAS to be true internally before you say it externally.
