I stopped looking for one more possibility years ago. Three decades of only ever finding things that helped a little — even things "everybody" else swore by — may have helped me get to that. Maybe that's the same as "surrender." But it wasn't something I came to voluntarily... Nor the multiple losses of all my possessions, relational and physical.
Trusting my own system to keep slowly getting me there has become my only precious hope to cling to, at least physically. It's become a wonderful relationship, different than any I ever expected to know or love, but still. I'd really like to live "normally" again, and know that I've contributed something more, out of all of this.
Lisa, I don’t know any of your story. But I can say as one in the midst of suffering I have thrown myself even further on the path of seeking God and asking for alignment with his desires. I am seeking to trust Him even when it doesn’t make sense, seeking to see Him at work even amidst difficult times. Please keep pressing on, knowing your life is a precious gift. There is no one else like you and there will never again be someone like you. You are right on time.
I’m right there with you, Tim. Pressing on, seeking to trust Him even when it doesn’t make sense. Some of it has even begun “showing dividends” if one can call it that. Some of the good God has worked through the fires has begun to be visible. Thank you. And thank you for “You are right on time.” ♥️
Awesome depth and beautiful writing, Tim. The manner in which you expressed your thoughts, teed up questions and explored answers is becoming rarer and rarer today. Keep at it. Many of us out here are grateful.
This is a beautiful piece here, Tim.
I just looked and I have this Wendell Berry essay in a book of his I just bought so will give it a read.
Also…I was about to send you a great book in the mail that I thought you might like but I guess had better hold off on that now! 🤗
I will still always accept free books.
